A dear friend of mine gifted a pair of tickets to Amiah and I for the Mad Hatter Tea Party. Remember the post about the Children's Village in the park? Well, the Tea Party is a HUGE fund raiser for it. I had wanted to go but can't afford a donation of the size required to attend so we weren't going to go. But my friend ended up with a last minute vacation and wouldn't be able to use her tickets, so we got to go. It was so much fun! I dressed Amiah up all foofey-like and off we were. The crowds made her nervous and the number of strangers dressed up in funny clothes and taking pictures of her and talking to her really made her crawl into her quiet shell but I know she had fun.
It took place in a large white tent next to the children's garden in the park. Walking into the tent was like being transported into a whole new planet. It was based on Alice and Wonderland (good think I rented it last night and watched it so I understood what was coming) and they did an excellent job portraying the them. The grass was covered with flower petals and playing cards. The ceilings were draped in red and yellow and blue fabrics and paper lanterns. The tables were stunning and fun. The food was simple but beautiful and perfect for tea!
After we found our table we went and made a fun "crown" for her to wear and then went back to sit down and enjoy our lemonade and treats. Of course Amiah loved the fruit and a lemon cupcake best. I enjoyed it all! However there was a fun "mushroom" treat that I couldn't get over. (A side note: I despise mushrooms of any nature. I won't even touch them normally). The "mushroom" was a meringue cookie held together with chocolate under the cap and dusted with cocoa powder. We really enjoyed ourselves.
This experience has my head spinning with ideas for my little girls 2nd birthday party next month. Another tea party just might be on order!
