Holy Cow

July 5th has come and gone which means it has been way too long since I've been on to update our blog....
Things happening around here: it is officially hot and muggy. I can't believe July is already in full swing. The 4th was fun. I worked in the morning and then we spent the afternoon and early evening with friends at various cook-outs and get togethers. While I don't feel particularly close to very many people here, there are a handful that have had quite an impact on my heart. I will miss them dearly when we go. The odd part about the 4th of July (and every other holiday out here) is that people celebrate when they want to. Our city didn't do a parade or celebration or fireworks show. There was a little fair-thing at the park and if you wanted to see a fireworks display you either saw them on the 3rd in a few different neighboring towns or you drove 20 miles (we didn't go but heard it was pretty pathetic) or you could have gone to some shows at various battle fields today. Apparently, if a holiday falls on a day that doesn't really "suit" the people, they just celebrate on a different day....so bizare.
PJ has spent the last two weeks attending a new preschool that is only a mile from our house. He goes 3 days a week for 4 hours at a time. He absolutely LOVES it. Gets excited to go and has no problem leaving me for 4 hours to play with his new friends. Then he comes home a tired chatter box and takes a GREAT nap and then chats our ears off until bed time. We still hardly understand what he is saying but at least he is talking (in some form or another). He's always so proud of his art projects that he brings home too. And he gets mad when I clean out his lunch box completely right away. He likes having access to it in the afternoon and pulling out different things that I guess he was "saving for later". It's so funny. I'm glad to see him finding some sort of ownership in something and feeling those successes. I'm so lucky to be his mom.
The pregnancy is trucking along. I officially look like I've shoved a small basketball under my shirt. And people are noticing I'm more pregnant than fat (now that I'm in my 3rd trimester). With PJ my belly wasn't nearly this round and neat. This one, it's just this ball that sticks out. She's starting to get cramped though and is starting to really wedge herself under my ribs. Last night I couldn't get comfortable at all because the baby was making it very obvious SHE wasn't able to get comfortable either. I'm sure some day I'll miss it...but for now, the count down is on. 9-12 weeks to go. YAY!

  1. Love the new design! I'm glad PJ is enjoying his new school. Out of the blue, Nathan asked to play with PJ yesterday. Good luck with your little girl!
