Well, marks our official 4 year wedding anniversary! I can't believe how quickly the last 4 years have gone! Guess time flies when you're having fun huh!? I thought I'd take a walk down memory lane for you all (and for me, it's fun to remonis). We met a LONG time ago. I think we figured out I was 11 and he was 13 at the time. No, we did not date that long. My oldest sister and one of his older brothers were actually high school sweet hearts. At the time, I noticed the Christoffersen very little except when our families were feuding (their relationship was not the most healthy or most supportive since they dated for their entire 3 years of high school). Mickey became very good friends with my other sister, Beth. He even took her to her Junior Prom! (Somewhere there are pictures of these things!) I remember sitting on our front porch with Beth when she told me that she was going to Prom with Mickey and telling her how nice of a guy he was and how she should marry him someday. She told me, "We're just friends. Besides, it's my generation of guys that you will end up marrying anyway." I don't think either of us realized it would be HIM that I marry!
Well, we lived our young lives and he went on his mission to Brazil and then return home and attend school at LCCC for two years. The following year we found ourselves in a Human Anatomy Lecture at the University of Wyoming. We sat together every class and made fun of the teacher and also tried to keep each other awake (it was an 8am class). We even studied together at his apartment! I eventually dropped the class but we hung out the entire semester. We talk about all the time how much we really liked each other as more than "study buddies" at the time and what would have happened had we acted on those feelings then. But I think the Lord knew it wasn't the right time for either of us to get married. Well, right after that semester ended I moved to Pocatello, ID to attend Idaho State for a semester. He called me once while I lived there and I remember telling my roommate, Jamie, how much I like him. Well, life happened and I ended up back in my parents basement right after that semester and found myself working at the hospital going to college part time. I became the FHE mom of the single branch there too. Now this is where our memories are different. I remember Mickey coming from Laramie (a 45 min drive) to go to FHE with his brother and flirting quite heavily when he would come (particularly a night where we ate cereal and watched cartoons. Mickey was wearing a blue velvet warm up suit and I used it as an excuse to touch him A LOT). He thinks that all happened after we had started dating...but I'm right :o). Anyway, there was a dance in Loveland, CO that we both ended up at. We danced once or twice and I gave him my number (he never called). Funny thing: at that dance my brother fell for his now wife and Mickey's nephew DJ met his now wife there also! So a few months later (it was Jan 04) I went with my sister and some girlfriends to a dance in Laramie, WY. Mickey was there, cute as ever. And this girl Jamie was TOTALLY flirting with him. When she kissed him on the cheek I had to turn around and get a hold of myself because I absolutely wanted to kill her. That's when I knew I liked him WAY more than friends. Well, we flirted and danced and then my sister and friends wanted to leave (they were bored). Mickey tried to talk me into staying and even offered me a ride home (I thought he was just being nice) but we exchanged numbers (again) and made plans to meet up the next day when I came to town to babysit for a friend of mine. Little did I know, Mickey had requested the song, "Kiss the Girl" from little Mermaid and tried to talk me into staying because he had planned on ASKING me to dance during that song and KISS ME!!! But I left right before it came on :o(.
The next day my friend called saying she didn't need me. I made plans for a ton of people to come over to my parents and called Mickey to tell him I wouldn't be coming (still thinking this would only be friends hanging out) and he said, "well, how bout I come there. See you in a half an hour!" I got dressed and 30 min later I left with him. (My sister was TICKED because I left her alone with a party at my parents). We drove around a lot, and flirted like crazy. We ended up going to see the movie, "Stuck on You" at the Lincoln Movie Theater. We had been talking about how there are certain "steps" of affection that must be taken like holding hands, then kissing, etc. Well, he said, "So holding hands is the first step right?" and he reached over and took my hand. I was shocked. I thought he was kidding but I wasn't going to let go!! So we held hands. Later in the movie, we kissed. Well, the rest is pretty much history. We were attached from then on out. Funny thing, I thought I was looking for just a little NCMO (non committal make out...bad girl...I know...) and he had a girlfriend at the time (I didn't find that out til we were engaged!). But what's right is right. 6 weeks later we got engaged and 4 months after that we were married in the Mt. Timponogas Temple in American Fork, UT.
Lots of moves, two dogs, a kid (almost two) later, we are still very much in love. We still gross our familes out but kissing and touching all the time (even in church...I know, we're gross but I LIKE IT!!) and flirt like crazy. I couldn't have asked for a better man to be married to or to be the father of my babies. I love him more every day and am the luckiest girl on earth to have landed such a great guy!
Happy Anniversary to US!!!
I can't believe it's been four years. Rylee still has one of the dresses from your wedding. It must have been Addyson's.
