Date with with the Folks

As many of you know, it's hard to squeeze a date in when you have kids. Sometimes sitters are dependable and easy to find...other times they aren't. We wanted to get out this weekend so off the three of us went. PJ enjoyed his "date" with Mommy and Daddy...we enjoyed it too, although keeping score at the Putt-Putt wasn't exactly necessary. We decided to attempt dinner at a Southern chain called "Fatz". Now mind you, with the exception of 1, we have YET to find a new eating establishment (especially southern based) that we enjoyed or found worth paying for. We were a little nervous, but thought it was worth a shot. Boy are we glad we went! They had AMAZING service, decent prices and the food was far better than we had expected. Served rolls The rolls were more like balls of bread dough with some poppy seeds and of course, deep fat fried and served with thick honey butter. They were a meal in themselves! The wings were surprisingly spicy (hard to find spicy here in NC) and their blue cheese was pretty good also. We have yet to learn to not bother ordering for PJ and just let him eat off our plates though. His burger landed on the floor not soon after he got it and he proceeded to polish off a basket of rolls on his own (with a few fries in the mix). After words, we decided to try out the Challenger 3 which is a "fun" place with mini-golf, go-carts, bumper boats etc. It was fairly affordable but we found out why...the putt-putt was pretty shabby. Most of the greens were held by duct-tape and the water flowing through out the course was very mucky and smelt like "stink lake" in Laramie. PJ of course thought the water was VERY cool and despite our best efforts, he threw two of our balls into the muck. Oh well, it really was fun.
Here are the fun photo's of PJ's first experience golfing. His Gran-dad would be proud!

  1. How fun! Babysitters are SO hard to find--we are very blessed to have family close. Your date sounds like it was a success!
