Us In Real Life

So we just got done watching Dan in Real Life. Mickey has never seen it. I love the music.. The final line in the movie goes something like this, "we spend all the time planning what we want our lives to be like, but really, we should plan for surprises". Maybe that's just my interprtation of it of it, but that's what I get from it. Either way: surprises of our day....
PJ got croup over the weekend. They put him on steriods that make him loopy and cranky. So he's been really clingy all day and we ran everywhich way (including thirty miles both east and west of our house) today and were/are exhausted. Mickey had to take a client he works with to another city for surgery at 4 this morning and it started our day on that foot if you know what I mean. Needless to say we got home FINALLY this afternoon and ALL of us crashed for at least an hour. Well, we got home and started the movie (that we rented yesterday but were too busy to watch) and he started getting texts from his nephew that lives in Cheyenne. They were under tornado warnings like crazy. A few minutes later another text, the roof of Wal Mart in Laramie has been ripped off by a tornado. We imediately turn on the news and start calling our family. Much to our relief our familes are alright. The tornado that hit Laramie damaged the high school and junior high, and tore the roofs off of Wal Mart and Gem City Bone and Joint and turned over semi's on I-80. Another hit near the community college in Cheyenne but no damage had been reported. I finally got a hold of my dad at work and he said that the city/county shut down at 345 this afternoon and told everyone to get home and get safe. My dad, at 5pm was STILL AT WORK (he has always listened so well). Anyway, that was quite a scare. We are very grateful nothing serious happened to our loved ones. The same storm caused 8 known tornados in northern Colorado tearing apart most of Windsor and parts of Greely. So far, one person was killed. Needless to say the worlds problems between the cost of energy and food (not to mention the beginning shortages of both) and the insane war and weather issues occuring shows to me that we are not far from the end everyone....maybe I'm one of those that reads to much into signs...but I'm feeling awfully guilty for not having my foodstorage in place (among everything else).
Okay, enough of that depressing stuff. PJ was very happy to have some daddy time this evening and I heard extreme fits of laughter coming from the living room downstairs. This video shows what I saw:

I guess my point is this: despite all the scary stuff happening, there is always something there to surprise us and make us laugh at the end of the day.

  1. Oh yes, it was crazy around here. My kids really didn't understand why we couldn't turn on the lights. I'm pretty sure they thought I was lying and just wanted them to go to bed early. :-) Love that video!!!
