This is a picture is the only picture I managed to snap of PJwith his best little girl friend in NC, Dakota. These two have been peas-in-a pod since we got there. He misses her so badly.

This was an actual air plane in the terminal at the Charlotte Airport. PJ just loves airplanes so I couldn't resist documenting it. We played under it for nearly two hours while we waited to board our plane to JFK.
And then we were "home".....
I actually took this a few days after we arrived. Between Cheyenne and Laramie (I live in Cheyenne now, went to college in Laramie) there is a place called Vedawoo that is part of a national park. My sister invited us up with some of their friends and family to go 4-wheeling and cook dinner over a bon-fire. It was so beautiful. I cannot tell you how much I have missed the wide open spaces of Wyoming. NC was beautiful with all the trees. But sunrises and sunsets are nearly impossible to see and the trees are so thick you can't see the houses or cities that dwell within them. Wyoming is just so open. So free. Finally, I can breath!! (figuratively anyway... I'm an athsmatic that now lives at over 6000 feet above sea level!!)
PJ and I arrive in the middle of what is known as "Frontier Days" around here. It's the "World's Largest outdoor Rodeo" and it's this huge 10 day event. Growing up here, it wasn't that big of a deal...more of an annoyance actually with all the tourists and bad traffic that comes with it. But one of the best things to do is participate in the pancake breakfast. It's a free breakfast that everyone is invited to. You wait in line for a long time to get fresh pancakes and ham (and if you are a kid or prego you get milk to drink!). It's fun despite the waiting. And the pancakes are always amazing!
Besides looking for housing etc since getting here PJ and I were able to spend extra amounts of time with my family. My sisters both live here as well as my parents. PJ has really enjoyed getting to know his cousins better. My mom is an amazing gardner and has recently added raspberry bushes to her garden. We go pick them everytime we are there. PJ really isn't a huge fan, but I must say, there is something truly amazing about eating fresh, sun ripened raspberries seconds after they have been picked!
Mickey arrived on Thursday evening with all of our stuff. What an ordeal! We spent the rest of Friday getting paperwork completed for our new place and then were officially allowed to move in on Tuesday morning. Talk about a close call, the moving truck was due back at the Penske place at 2 that same afternoon. But we had great support from our family and missionaries and got it back by noon. Only took us an hour to unload. We live in an upstairs three-bedroom apartment. It has two full-bath, one of which is in the master bedroom and I am really liking that. We have lots of neighbors that have kids and we are quickly making friends with them. There is a big playground in the complex as well as a small exercise room too. We live a little east of town and the highway we live off of tends to be noisy at night but we are getting used to it. We were able to attend our ward this week (last week we went to my parents ward because Mickey's nephew who is also in that ward was blessing their new baby) and get to know the people we will be attending church with. There are alot of families and friends that we already know that we are excited to be near again. There were about 10 kids in nursery and PJ had so much fun he DIDN'T want to leave (that has NEVER happened). The sisters in RS were very kind and I would say it's safe to say we all feel at home already. We have nearly our entire apartment unpacked already and are glad to be in our own place again.
Sorry this is such a long post. But it's been a busy few weeks! We'll keep you posted as life continues to unfold over the next few weeks, I can't believe I'm only 44 days from my due date!!! Check out the final random photos from the last few weeks below!

So glad you're settled! PJ looks like he's having a lot of fun. I really hope you enjoy being "home" again!
ReplyDeleteWoohoo. Glad to hear things have fallen into place for you. I'm sure you are thrilled to be mostly unpacked. Boy, is that ever fun. It is fun to make your place a home...but it is also a pain in the mule at times, too. lol.
ReplyDeleteHope to see you around town soon. :)
So glad you guys are back in town! We'll have to get our families together for dinner or something. Good luck with the new ward (you'll love it...I wish I was in that ward myself) and the new place. Good to see you at the store! Love, Tia Little
