Rain Rain Go Away!

Our newest song...."Rain Rain Go away! Come again another day!!" It's been raining NONSTOP since Thursday night. According to the National Weather Service we got some 5 inches yesterday alone. 10 total this month! That's more rain in 3 days than we EVER saw in NC!! It's crazy wet. And cold. Man I forgot how cold Wyoming rain is!! Yesterday we reached a high of a whopping 48 degrees!! BRRR!!! We didn't plan on it getting so cold so quick and poor PJ has outgrown all of his pants this summer. I knew he would, but was planning on him wearing nothing but shorts until next month so the poor kid is stuck with high waters for the moment. He's so cute. He absolutely loves the rain and it's such a fight to keep him out of it! The dog of course hates it with a passion. She thinks she'll melt if she gets rained on so getting her to go out and use the bathroom is a battle also (can't keep the kid in can't get the dog to go out?!). It's not supposed to clear up until tomorrow afternoon. What do people do all day when it rains like this??? So far- I've nearly completely finished putting the office together (last room to unpack) play online way too much, and make a mess in nearly everyother room of the house. Yesterday I baked rolls, made homemade lentil soup for dinner and then baked 3 loaves of whole wheat bread! I must say, I LOVE having a gas oven! And I love being back at a familiar altitude. I know, I'm weird. Most people can't cook at a high altitude, but I never really nailed cooking at sea level. I figure, with the cold weeather, I may as well make the most out of turning the oven on while I can without overheating the whole apartment.

I must say, it turned out really well. We haven't found a whole wheat bread here that we like very much so I am going to try and be one of those mom's that makes homemade bread everyweek. It actually adds up to be about a dollar a loaf to make it, so it saves on the bank a little. Plus, since my kitchenaid went out, it's a great work out for my arms!! Yay! So here's too cold weather, too much rain, and the amazing smell and taste of homemade bread!

  1. Rain? What's that?
48 degrees isn't summer--that's back to school, raking leaves, and doing homework weather.
By the way, I really wish we still lived down the street from each other (instead, we've both moved across country...).
