Dirty Laundry

So we went to my mom's house for a bit today... She was reading my cousin's wife's blog to me. Don't get me wrong, she IS great and her blog is fun and often quite hilarious. I do intend on becoming a regular viewer. However, it got me thinking. My mom is a blog reader. Wow, great, ME TOO. But she doesn't read MY blog. (This is not a little girl whining for my mom's attention btw) but the conversation lead to blogs and their content and I told her that I was always afraid to be as "honest" about my life on my blog because of the "talk" that might just occur from the content of my conversation. And she said, "but that's what makes Abby's blog so great. She is just so REAL." So I am wondering, does anyone else only post the positive or happy or extremely funny because no one wants to hang their dirty laundry out for the internet to see? Now seriously folks, I am not going to write about personal issues like finance or marriage or THAT kind of laundry, but maybe the occasional barf-covered-cleavage or I-wanna-run-away-from-home-today sort of blog might just be acceptable. Ok, not asking permission. But my friends, things just might get to be a little more "real" here on Paradise blog because well it's my blog. So what do I care what people think. However, if something real personal pops up on here please, love me tender?? Lol.

  1. I love "real" blogs!!! They are the best ones to read I think. I'm not the best blogger in the world, but I have some on mine that are as real as can be. Sometimes I vent or say a little too much, but it's me and my feelings. I wish I would/could blog more, but I am a terrible writer and that holds me back.
Anyways, I think that "real" blogs help us understand and realize just how human and imperfect we are and that's ok, nobody is perfect! We all have our faults and it's a good way for us to learn from each other and get really good advise! Love you blog Heather! :)

  2. I personally would love to hear more about barf-covered cleavage.

I tend to edit my blog posts because of who might read them, but I wish I didn't. I think it depends on whether you write your blog for yourself, or for your readers.

  3. I try to keep it real. Hence the recent blog about my dog pooping in the car. I waited for about a week before getting the nerve to post that one - and sure enough, 2 different people had to be negative. But I'm with you. It's my blog, why can't I say whatever I want to say? Besides... if they don't like it, they can just stop reading, right?

(My biggest fear though is when I want to complain about my in-laws. I tone it down - though there's been several times when I had to think long and hard about what I was going to say because I knew 'she' would be reading it)

  4. Hey Heather, I'm all for hanging out dirty laundry on the blog. I do it as often as I can. I make a practice of it in fact. So go on and hang some out for us to enjoy. It's great to be real :)

  5. I use my blog as a sort of family journal. I try to keep it upbeat and use a personal blog for the not-so-great...just because I plan on converting it to a scrapbook to send the family at the end of each year. Some of the ugly gets in...but most doesnt. BUT...I DO love the blogs that I follow where they are really honest about their lives. I know I'm not alone on many issues and I admire them for posting it...especially if they actually use real names and pictures. lol.

  6. Last Christmas, we started the (hopefully) yearly tradition of printing my blog into a hardbound book for my Christmas present. I am so terrible at journaling that my blog has kind of become my journal. There are some things I won't blog about, but there are some things I do. Sometimes I word it so that it doesn't seem quite as emotional as it actually is, but it brings back memories for me of those times. My blog is now more for my own personal memories of these years than for anyone else to make assumptions about. Obviously if I wasn't ok with them reading it, I wouldn't blog about it. But . . . it's kind of therapeutic at times. Blog away . . . I especially would like to hear the barf-in-the-boobage-I'm-gonna-run-away-now story. There will be several I'm-trying-really-hard-not-to-kill-Ellis-but-may-not-be-successful-soon stories coming to a Pink Bellies near you. :)
