Okay so I have been trying to change a few things here and there because it's the new year and well, that just puts me (and everyone else) in the mood to "change." So the first thing I did was change my blog layout. Lets be honost, it's pretty ugly. I don't know why I picked it, but every time I look at it I think, "Gosh, this looks really ugly..." So I am on the hunt for a better blog layout. The biggest thing I want, is a good family picture at the top (like yours Tia). Unfortunately, we have not had an official family picture taken since PJ was 6 months old!! Isn't that terrible? Mostly, I hate pictures of myself. But this New Year has brought on a new attitude on that also. I spent a few hours a few weeks ago going through most of the pictures saved on my computer. We have a million of them and they are in a whole bunch of different places and some of them are on there about 100 times each SO I decided to clean it all up (thought I had it done when a few days ago I found another folder with a WHOLE BUNCH more and videos that I need to go through). But all this made me also want to implement a baby book/journal for each of my kids, and my hubby. My good friend, Robyn, told me once that she uses publisher and makes a newsletter for each year for each of her kids (she has 4 kids currently) to keep up with pictures and fun things that happen. I really admire those of you that are amazing at scrapbooking like you Liz, but I have just never been that creative or artistic. SO I started my own version of Newletters for my kids (actually I've only gotten as far as PJ's first week...). They are taking a while but I'm really happy with the results so far. I figure each year I will have them printed at Kinko's so they turn out very nice and professional and then put them in a nice scrapbook-book. ANYWAY all of this made me realize that I have 6, yes 6 pictures of me since we got married 4 1/2 years ago. Totally pathetic. But again, I really don't like pictures of myself. But I also hate the fact that I don't have any cute pictures of me with my babies. So I have made a commitment to taking more pictures of me with people that are important to me this year. This now leads to my newest change. I've been blonde my whole life. Even when I try to dye my hair brown, it shows up somewhat blonde. I've been asking my sister, Beth, (who is amazing at dying hair and doing highlights) to do it for me since we moved back but it's hard to find a good 3 hours without kids to do it SO I finally just bought a $6 box of dye from Target that was supposed to be "Light Mahogany Brown." I was thinking (and according to the pictures on the box) it would be a light brown with slightly red undertones...HA HA HA!!! Oh no... so I put the gloves on, mix the chemicals and start covering my blonde locks with the goo...I get it everywhere (including the bottom of my foot) and as it starts to set up for a bit I notice it starting to look like dried blood. Yes, that RED...it continues to set and continues to turn bright red. Well, the end result: a nearly blackish-red color!! At first it looked pink but then I rinsed and rinsed and rinsed and WASHED and rinsed and this is what the end result is:

I didn't like it at first, but Mickey keeps commenting on it, and my sister Beth (remember the hair expert) thinks it is "Hot" so I have decided to leave it be for a bit. What do you think?
Also, changes in the last two weeks: Amiah started rolling over! Yes, at 3 1/2 months old, she flipped over both from her tummy to her back and her back to her tummy:
She still isn't completely consistant at it, but I am officially afraid to leave her on a surface without a hand on her (that is not the floor) so she doesn't fall off. Plus, she has become quite the talker:
PJ has finally learned to be GENTLE with her and is loving hugging her and playing with her now. It's so sweet. I just love how they are quickly becoming friends! However, I know this will be short lived once she can steal his toys. This is PJ with his cousin, Brandon, on New Years. They were so excited to hang out in their Superman Jammies together!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the new color. I think it's awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love the Popeye shirt! Good luck with those newsletters--they're much easier than scrapbooking (and less messy)--and they're easy to send to grandparents.
ReplyDeleteI like the darker color--it works well with your coloring, I think.
Happy New Year!
Go Amiah! That is so exciting!!! What a big girl! And you look lovely, by the way!
ReplyDeleteI like the hair i think it looks REALLY good on you! Definitely keep it for a while it compliments you very well.
ReplyDeletePretty! I love that picture of you!
ReplyDeleteI love the new hair color! I am jeleous, I wish I looked good in dark hair! ;)
ReplyDeleteOoo. Fun hair color. Go with it for a while, I say. :)
ReplyDeleteYay for rolling over! What a big girl! And I love the idea of newsletters. Those are genius. Do you have an outline you were looking at or just making it up? Was this for each week/month/overall year? Good idea. I have thousands of pictures to go through because I never delete anything and have 50 shots that look the same and 50 that aren't in focus. It is ridiculous and I need to go through everything.
Thank you for mentioning me in your post, but I have a confession to make...I did those scrapbook pages in college. Yep, five years ago!! Now that I have two kids and am working full-time, I never have time to scrapbook and I haven't even started the boys' books. I do have all the pictures in non-magnetic photo albums and they're in order with labels.
ReplyDeleteP.S. If you want to see some awesome scrapbooking, check out my sister-in-law Jena's page on my blog list. She rocks!!
P.P.S. I love the new hair and your kids are ADORABLE!!
