Owen is coming up on the big 6-month milestone. This is a big deal to me for a lot of reasons. This is a big deal for Mickey because it is the age we agreed to move him OUT of our room (although this is a very difficult thing for me to do) and into another. Considering the size of our living quarters (small) we have been debating for some time whether to get Miah a toddler bed and put him in with her to avoid dreaded change with PJ. However, PJ has proven that he absolutely despises being alone- especially at night. So it was decided that Owen would bunk in with his big brother (this could go either way....). This means getting Amiah OUT of her crib and into another bed. This also means that I have another mommy-milestone of letting go of her baby girl. The crib is a symbol that she is still a baby..... But the real baby-baby needs it. My baby girl is now a little-big girl. SO I spent the afternoon rearranging rooms, taking apart furniture, setting up furniture etc (my back is KILLI NG me).
I had her nap on my bed so I could do it with as little "help" as possible. Her room was all set up when she woke up and she was SO excited. All evening she kept saying to all of us, "come look at my big girl bed!" And she would wave her arm to have us follow and would guide us to her room. Crazy adorable.
The bed has an ultra thick mattress on it so it is as tall as she is really. But she is a strong kid and getting up and down hasn't been difficult at all.
These are a few shots of what bed time looked like (and yes, that is also a chocolate goatee that needed to be wiped off still....). I haven't gotten a side rail yet, so I propped a pillow along side her hoping that will keep us from hearing that dreaded "thunk" in the middle of the night. Wish us luck!
