Broken arm, shopping cart and a bunch more pictures

Yes, you read that right.... first order of business: the broken arm...
Last Friday PJ and Mickey were playing on our bed and PJ fell off (no, Mickey did not push him...) and caught himself. We thought the reason he was screaming was because he bonked his head and bit his lip. Of course he screamed his head off for a few HOURS and we kept thinking it was his fat lip so I just kept feeding him cold stuff. Well, after about 2 hours of him crying and holding his wrist we called the Children's Clinic and lucky for us they had an X-Ray tech working so we went in and got X-Rays (so much better than spending the day in the ER). They didn't see anything so they sent us home. Well, he cried practically all weekend and he kept babying his left arm, and refused to use it. If he did on accident or we touched it he just screamed and screamed. Plus, the swelling started getting worse and it was getting more bruised. So first thing Monday morning we went back to the Children's Clinic and they had a radiologist read the X-Ray's this time. Sure enough, the side view showed a buckle fracture (this is not his actual x-ray, in fact we never got to see them but this is a picture of what a buckle fracture looks like. You can tell it's easier to see from the side view).
So they gave me a choice: fiberglass cast or a brace with a wrap. As you can see, we opted for the brace with a wrap (less hassle during bath time etc). He seems to be adjusting to it fairly well. He surprisingly doesn't like having it off (I think it hurts when it isn't supported) but it makes it difficult to do anything since he has to use both hands for all simple tasks like eating, drinking, climbing etc. Anyway, 4 weeks from now, we get to be brace free.
Second Topic: Shopping Cart

Two Christmas' ago Mickey's mom gave PJ a really nifty shopping cart for Christmas. It's a toy that he only shows interest in periodically (comes in waves..) and recently, he hasn't really been interested. Well, we had a friend with a few other kids over yesterday and one of the girls saw the cart in his room (full of toys behind all the other toys just sitting in a corner) and managed to pull it out and run around our apartment with dolly's and whatever else she could find in it. Well, needless to say, he suddenly had a spark of interest for it again. So last night while we were watching TV I heard PJ rumaging around in our pantry. This is what I found:

It was so funny because he would stand there for a second and go, "Mmmmm....Yeah" or "Mmmmm....Nah". If it was a "Yeah" he put it in the cart. Then while I was taking pictures of him he starting pointing and each thing in the cart and telling me what it was by saying, "I love cookies" or "I love fruit" or "I love beets and carrots". It was so funny!!

(for those of you wondering about the hat he is wearing, it is a crocheted hat that belongs to my little great-niece (yes I have a great-niece). It looks like a crown and I love it so I borrowed it (thank you Jen) to try and recreate my own. PJ loves it, so he was wearing it)

Third order of business: lots more fun pictures of the kids I thought you would enjoy seeing

Amiah's first taste of baby food. She REFUSED to smile.

Amiah's first biter biscuit. She LOVED this one!
Little princess after her bath

Happy nacky baby
PJ a few Sunday's ago. We put one of Mickey's ties on him and then he put Mickey's slippers on and kept following Mickey around copying him. It was so cute. Unfortunatly, this was the best picture we could get of it.
Lazy Saturday mornings. It would appear our kids are NOT morning people
They are fooling you though. Their happiest time of day is right when they wake up (even if it's 3 am)Happy kids!

  5. Heather! I have always known what a cutie PJ is, but I have never seen pictures of Amiah. Seriously, I gasped she is SO ADORABLE! I'm sorry for not checking your blog so much sooner. I can't believe how tall PJ is. So sorry about the broken arm...some kids are more prone to accidents than others. My second boy had stitches more times than I can remember, but the other three never did.
