Adaptations

OMG I can't believe I haven't found my way back to our blog since April! (Well, yes I can...I am just scatterbrained like that...) It has been an interesting 9months to say the least.
We have adapted to life with a) a kindergartner b) me working outside the home c) cloth diapers, homemade laundry soap and other new frugal attempts to save money d) discovering, embracing and accepting very personal truths no matter how unpopular and difficult they can be.
So far, we have been mostly successful at it. Change is always tough. Especially in a home where  consistent routines are as essential as water.
PJ has adjusted well to elementary school. Despite being 4 months into it, he is still very exhausted at the end of the day. But has a good buddy he talks about all the time and a class full of mother hens that look out for him. He hates music class but loves art and PE. He is reading more and more everyday (which is tricky for us to help with because [no kidding] he can memorize a book after having it read to him once so we have to cover pictures (aka memory triggers) to work on the actual words). He has also developed an outrageous appetite for numbers and math and dinosaurs.
Amiah goes to preschool two mornings a week and impresses her teachers everyday with her name-spelling abilities, enormous vocabulary and "wisdom" (did you know "we shouldn't touch volcanos because they are dangerous?" Or "cleaning up our toys is our own responsibility? "). She would do artsy (painting is her favorite) things all day if we let her. She has also developed a 12 year olds attitude and in her own words "never gets to do anything!" (Line she stole from her favorite book, Don't let the Pigeon drive the bus).
Owen is our adorable and charming captain of destruction.  This kid is into and on top of EVERYTHING! He is talking like crazy (only 21mo) and has the worlds largest mouth (literally. Courtesy of the Christoffersen genes). He has a terrible sweettooth and loves gum.
Mickey is still working hard for the State and trying to keep his sanity while dealing with all of us (read:his crazy wife).
I currently work for a company here in town helping adults with DD on evenings and weekends. I love the partners I serve and am reminded everyday of our Heavenly Parents love for all of us.
Anyway,
I hope to get around to a more detailed update on everyone over the next few weeks but for now, we are alive, we are surprising well, and we are totally moving forward and enjoying every (good and bad) moment of it!
